one of the common item for textile industries. By calculating of any garments
item, its effect on total pricing of the product in an order. This article will
help to find out the correct way consumption of poly bag and costing of the
product. In textile industries, poly bag commonly known as polythene bags and
have used in a variety way into the industries. This plastic bag used to secure
the garments product from dust or dirt, insect, moisture etc. which is ready to
export purpose.
This safety
item produced from polymer. Commonly, there are two types of poly bag used in
garments industries. One is PP (Polypropylene) and another one is PE (Polyethylene).
Also industry used LDPE (Low density polyethylene) and HDPE (High density
polyethylene) based on product required. The material use to make LDPE poly,
can be recyclable and others can’t be recycled.

Thickness is
another important factor to calculate the costing of poly bag in textile
industry. Basically, there are 3 different way uses to measure the thickness of
poly bag. Those are –
- Mil
- Microns
- Gauge
From above
list, Gauge is most popular way to define the thickness of poly bag. To measure
thickness by using Mil (1 Mil = 1/1000 of an inch). For Microns (1 Microns =
1/1000 of an mm). For Gauge (1 gauge = 1/100000 of an inch).
For calculating the cost of poly bag, need to
know below information to identify the actual cost. Find the below information
before calculate the cost of poly bag:
- Length of Poly bag in inch.
- Width of Poly bag in inch.
- Thickness of poly bag in gauge.
- Flap of poly bag – here flap will be ½. (Note that, flap is single layer and width of poly bag is double layer).
- Number of print used on the poly bag. (Note that, print can be any type like; logo, text, warning etc.)
- Current rate
of polymer per pounds (polymer like; PP, PE and LDPE etc.)

garment exporter has an order with below information for buyer “C&A”
- Length of poly bag – 25 inch.
- Width of poly bag – 23 inch.
- Thickness of poly bag – 150 gauge.
- ½ flap of poly bag – 2.5 inch.
- Rate of PP polymer - $0.45 per pound.
For thousand
pcs export garment, we will use above formula and information to identify the
cost of poly bag for 1 pcs.
